Surrounded by green hills and the spectacular backdrop of the Tuscia, the ancient land of the Etruscans, the Hotel Santa Caterina is on the Cassia, the road linking Viterbo in Rome, to an area where peace and tranquillity form part of a charming and unique vacation.
Wrapped in a relaxed atmosphere that serves as a Door to Viterbo – the historic City of the Popes – our hotel is ideal for anyone visiting Rome, the capital of Italy, which is rich in museums, monuments and extraordinary works of art, and just under an hour’s drive away.
Located in an important spa area, in the immediate vicinity of the Hotel Santa Caterina are the Masse di San Sisto [San Sisto Masses] and the Terme dei Papi [Thermal Spa of the Popes], the oldest and most prestigious thermal spas in Viterbo, which are ideal if you want to add relaxation and well-being to your holiday.
Also easy to reach are Lake Vico and Lake Bolsena, as well as the medieval villages of Tuscania and Civita di Bagnoregio, the latter of which was founded over two thousand years ago by the Etruscans; by simply walking across a bridge dating back to the last century, you’ll find yourself in one of the most fascinating areas of central Italy.
Lazio and Tuscia are renowned for their traditional produce, and a cuisine made up of irresistible flavours, with special dishes based on wild boar’s meat and excellent Doc wines. In addition, extra virgin olive oil, meats, cheeses, chestnuts and hazelnuts all form part of courses of high quality foods and wines that are impossible to resist.
